Im helping a friend with his motor build and we are kinda stumped at which camshaft to use. The truck is an 85 two wheel drive street truck, 3.73 gears th350, 2000 rpm stall and a 350 with performer intake, msd distributor, stock heads with minor port work, small dome pistons that will equal out to about 9.3:1 compression and a q-jet for the carb.

he has a comp magnum 270h 224 duration at .050 and .470 lift. I have a comp 280h with 230 duration and .480 lift so not much difference.

on his desktop dyno the 280h makes like 15 more hp and I know that it sounds good with a decent lope.

my question is would there be that much difference in idle quality between the two cams? he wants a rough idle (270h is suppose to have a rough idle) but still be streetable. and fuel mileage, would there be a big difference in fuel mileage between the two? I think that the 270h would be a better option for him but on the other hand we want it to sound mean.
