Hello everyone. I can use some help. My son has a 2012 Chevy Silverado crew cab 4.x4 5.3L v-8 with 165k miles. We replaced the oil pump about 5 months ago. We believe we did the right thing by also replacing the timing chain and gears. They were original and the chain had a bit of slack to it. We also replaced the oil pressure sensor and camshaft sensor. The truck ran great, and is still running great, for about 2 months when the engine light came on. I scanned it and got the code for camshaft sensor. Checked all the connections and cleared the code. Two days later the engine light is on again. So we thought, ok, maybe the new camshaft sensor went bad. Just because something is new doesn't mean it's good. We put another camshaft sensor in and cleared codes again. The next day the engine light came on and the scanner said that it's the camshaft sensor. The engine runs too good to be out of time. Plus we checked the timing marks several times before reassembly.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We have a haynes repair manual but it doesn't get this deep. Thank you for your time and reply.
