K5 blazers received a camshaft sprocket redesign in 90s. Could anyone shed some like on how the redesign differs and could possibly perform better?

Only thing that comes to mind is a full steel gear rather than an aluminum gear with nylon teeth.

yea I figured there was no performance gain just durability. pretty much timing is timing and you can retard or advance based on your build

You said retard lol But on another note, gear driven timing sets are a no-go because the harmonics can cause the knock sensors to read funny. Learned this the other day and just wanted to share.
