Can a 1/2 ton really carry 1/2 a ton?

The answer is yes. I helped my father load up just over 1000 lbs of 30 year old railroad ties and take them to the landfill. He also got to experience something only a convertible blazer owner can...the eye killing dust storm that starts when you drive around with no top and 1/2 ton of wood dust in the back.

It was a nice day for a drive though. The landfill is at the top of large hillside overlooking San Jose. You can see for miles while standing next to a 30 foot tall pile of mulch. I hope his contact lenses are fixable...

Looks like your truck isn't even sagging with the weight. Also, I believed they used arsenic to treat those old rr ties. Your sinuses ought to be nice and clean now.

Yea, the rear did sag several inches but that wasn't a big deal. I have actually been trying for years to figure out why the drivers side sat about and inch lower than the passenger. I replaced the rear shackles with some ORD heavy duty ones and it perfectly level now. The old shackles don't appear damaged but somehow that fixed my problem.

Now I'm off to deal with craigslisters coming to look at my old top... Ugh.

I carried two axles , complete from rotor to rotor and drum to drum , and some sticks of steel for rock sliders , and four ralley rims all at once .

If you can fit in there , it will carry it

I should have brought my camera to catch a view up at the landfill. If it wasn't filled with trash, people would probably pay a million for 1/8 acre to build a mansion up there. Maybe someday that'll happen like they did with all the rubble after the San Fran earthquake.
