Can a bad ignition switch be the problem?

Go figure, my truck's not running again. I turn the key and it fires right up but as soon as I release the key it dies. I *jiggled* the switch and it started up and ran long enough for me to get to my house (about 200 yards). Now it's doing the same thing again. Can a bad switch cause this?

definitely - about a $10-$15 part. Sometimes they can be a bugger to get out...

Shouldn't be too hard on a first gen truck, didn't they still have it on the dash until 72, even though the cars got the column switch in 69 /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif You could pull the plug to check I think, last time I worked on one I thought you could jump pink to red for ignition and touch purple momentarily to see if it starts and runs /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
