can a flexplate warp from excessive heat?

Are you talking heat like from a fire or just normal engine heat? Normal hot engine, shouldn't cause warpage. In a fire, maybe, but that would be the least of your problems.

talked to my mechanic today he said sounds like it may be a cracked flexplate..supposed to stop by tommorrow evening to look at it, excessive heat as in motor getting really really hot to the point of stumbling

If the flexplate is cracked, Summit sells SFI approved flexplates for around $55. They are MUCH stronger than a stock flexplate. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

that didn't make any sense....blown torque convertor? god I hope that's not it, I'm too poor to start replacing more stuff

blew up a torque converter only way we knew was each new flexplate broke in less than 5 min.
Yes it got expencive repacing flexplates everyday

how did it act? in other words was there not any sign of the torque converter acting funny?

the flex plate vibrated from the stator being broke in the torque converter. Took the torque converter off for the hell of it and it went klunk and pieces fell out.
