Can anyone ID this turbo?

This is the oddball turbo that came with my new (old) 6.2. I'm pretty sure it's not the Banks model:D. Looks to be a dealer option, or at least a pro fab job, looks sort of homebrew. Look familiar to anyone? I havn't had a chance to pressure wash the engine yet, and there's too much crud on the turbo its self to pick out any markings. Looks like they pulled the mechanical fuel pump too, haven't looked in the rear to see what is (or was) pumping the fuel now.

I would need more (and closer up) pics of the turbo and manifold to have any hope of making an ID...

Interesting - that intake manifold must be split from front to back with some sort of divider, and then it would use a stock-type air cleaner? If it's not, the compressor intake and output are going in/out of the same plenum...

Is that the ATS turbo? It is the only one I have seen that looks like that.

Ah I think we have a winner here! With a name to go with it, a little googling pointed me to a thread from The Diesel Place that seems to confirm it is an ATS turbo setup, and kinda rare.

longbedder: Yes, there's an aluminum "can" that goes between the intake manifold & air cleaner, that's split horizontally by a divider plate. Air comes from the cleaner, thru the turbo, then back to the can on the other side of the plate & on into the manifold. Doesn't look very efficient or elegant, but sure gets points for cleverness.:D Think I'll do something different with the air cleaner end tho, should be pretty simple to hook up a CAI type filter right in front of the compressor. Too bad no one makes a snorkel kit for these rigs.

No idea. Says "A/R 85 <serial number> ROTO MASTER HI-FLO" on the side.

Rotomaster never actually made turbos. They were like Turbonetics, where they would brand other turbos with their name. The turbo is probably a Rajay, although it could be a Garrett.

One of my two Banks setups has a Rotomaster turbo on it. The other has a Garrett. They changed turbo suppliers through the years (this was confirmed over the phone with them).

The passenger side exhaust manifold looks like Banks, but the topside plumbing I have no idea about. Maybe it's homebrew?

I've seen pix of the same setup on a different truck, so definitely not homebrew. Looks like the kit was setup for super-easy install by clueless dealer mechanics. The turbo has a HUGE drain line direct to the oil pan tho, I need to get some more gunk layers off to see how that's connected. Might be an easy way to plumb in a bypass filter eventually

Well I have an ATS and it doesn't look anything like that.
I will post pics of mine later today.
