Ive got an 1984 Chevy, but like the looks of the 84 GMC grill. Can they be interchanged and would it look ok (right). what other years can be used as well?

AFAIK grills the same year between GMC and Chev will interchange. There was a split in the mid-80's though, the lower metal filler between bumper and grill has different mounting points where the grill screws to it. I'd guess that was a 1985 change, since '83-84 had the same grills.

Grill for most years as was stated will interchange. You can also change out the entire grill assembly for most of the years after 81, that's when they changed to the smaller lip on the hood.

the only possible problem I could see would be between 82 & 83 when they changed the turn signal location from the bumper to between the lower 2 headlights other then that I don't see where there would be any problem

It could have been '83(because of the turn signal change), but the lower metal trim piece changed how the grill mounts, and that was between the years 1981-1987.

I don't think everyone can see this, but anyone that can, I wouldn't mind having confirmed that before a certain year, the circled portion DID change. Both the grill and the piece that it screws to there. I'm certain it did, I tried to use an "older" metal piece with the newer grill, and this was the only reason it wouldn't work.

My '83 grill mounts like that...hopefully that helps narrow things a little.

On my K5 I run an '83 Chev grill on an 81 GMC front clip. It bolted up no problem. I do notice the headlight surrounds are different between the Chev and GMC too...
