So I got that 1989 K5 n/a 6.2. Happier then hell 20+ mpg couldn't ask fo anything else. Driving down the road doing about 40, let off the pedal pop bang knock knock knock.

Thought rod, maybe valve or something in the head...? Idk. I'm crushed.
Okay fellas, where do I start with this thing?

Check the oil, check the coolant, do a compression check. If you confirm a catastrophic failure I'd look for a good used 'runner' and replace it with that.

Or if you have the $$ have it rebuilt.

If it's major and you find the problem...post up. There might be a reason it did what it did. An example I can think of is a busted crankshaft, usually caused by a bad vibration dampner (harmonic balancer)
