Need to get something bigger than the Burb to transport the w&k's plus freinds. A 15 passenger van or a "church" bus (shuttle bus)? Or neither? The 15pax is smaller in overall size and would be easier to drive in town, but the bus has WAY more room inside and with most coming with TD engines, I could pull the travel trailer quite comfortably. Both will run about $10k-15k and mileage is about the same as the Burb. I just want to see what others would do in my shoes.

How many people you talking and why would you have so many people to lug around so often that you would need to buy something so big?

Ever looked into a Dodge Sprinter? They cost a bit more but I own one and I've got it loaded to the max with tools and parts for work and I get 20mpg.

Well, I see a few issues. One is what in the software world we call "scope creep"; do you really need that big a vehicle that often to justify it? (Maybe you have a big family and/or take the dogs with you ... I had a Burb for a family of three, 'cuz with one friend and two dogs, it got full quick!)

Maybe you take one Burb sometimes and two the rest -- gas is expensive, but buying another vehicle adds up in initial cost, maintenance, license & reg, insurance, parking, etc.

Speaking of costs, there is insurance and such; the state and/or your insurance may treat a "bus" as a commercial vehicle, which could get expensive quickly.

However, a 15-seat van is BEGGING for a 4WD conversion, so that could turn into a Project very quickly too :haha: I've always wanted to do such a conversion, but have absolutely no justification for a van.

The Sprinters are cool for stuff, 'cuz they're so tall, but if you're really needing to move that many people, a 15 seat van is prolly your best bet.

Well, or one of these

Which you could still claim as a "Burb" :D

well right now that what we do (drive both Burbs to get everyone around). I have six (four kids, the Mrs and I) and most of my wifes freinds have large families (plus she babysits a couple large families, should've added that to the first post). So yes we could justify byuing one (it would replace the 90 Burb) which brings me to my second piont: Hell yeahit would get a 4wd conversion. Jeez, thats BEGGING for a conversion. Even the shuttle would get it done. I dont even have a need for it but a challenge is a challenge. Since I'm a Washington resident, I think as long as it is used for personnal use a shuttle could still be tagged a non commercial vehicle.

Like I said, I just want to see what people think given the same situation. Give it another couple weeks. I still have another year befroe the money is available, so things might change between now and then.

BUILT NOT BOUGHT:D

I have seen those conversions (I dont know if they were actualy Quigley conversions) and they look sweet.

All sounds good; didn't mean to come across as negative in my first post -- was just playing devil's advocate.

A shuttle bus with a TD sounds cool and all, but if you could find a dizzle 15-seater, *that's* actually useful ... take it grocery shopping, kid-toting, or just confusing the occasional guy at the gas station who sees the solid front axle and goes  :D
