I seem to be having the hardest time finding a front D60. I found every variation of a 14FF to suite my needs but no front D60. Wait I lied, I did find one but he wants $1000.00 for it (dude is on crack).

Anyway, if you live somewhere within 6-8 hours of Houston Texas and have a D60 (it dosent have to be perfect) let me know, especially if your willing to part with it at a reasonable price. Or FREE...

Was it missing parts, torn up, or balljoint?

$1k is maybe a touch high but not at all unheard of for a stock complete kingpin D60 front west of the Mississippi...

I think your on crack wanting someone to just give it to you. Deals can be had, but they aren't gonna give them away.

Really, $1000.00 West of the Mississippi not unheard of, WOW. 1 ton dreams could turn into nightmares. Somebody out there has to know of something.

No, no crack here. Really, I do not expect anybody to give me anything. I have no problem paying for my toys. The free request was in jest. However, Whitney Houston thanks "crack is wack".

Why so cheap there and not here?
Cuz in the northeast trucks rust away to junk before the drivetrains/axles are done with life. The population is also more dense and therefore has less tolerance for junkers sitting around.

In TX and the rest of the southwest, trucks don't rust like that and the chassis/body will last much, much longer. There's also alot more farms and open space where dead trucks sit around and get forgotten without anyone complaining.

Stomis if you find one on the cheap let me know. Sounds like I would spend way less than 1k for one, so it sounds, by driving to NJ. Trip included....how far is that from the Lone Start State?

Same here, I have family outside of Annapolis, MD so a trip to NJ would be nothing for me with a stop over at their house each way.

2-1/2 days straight. Its 1-1/2 straight from Ft.Lauderdale FL.

I honestly dont even check the site they would go that cheap for anymore. Ask runamok I believe he still mingles with them.

Mapquest says 1585 miles to the Point Pleasant in Sussex county. Gotta check on a southwest flight one way, then a one way uhaul truck, and of course the ever changing fuel rates before I could persue any more such dreams. But the road trip would be fun, just like the days in college. Wait, maybe not...lol.

Lol sussex is damn far north. Thats like border of upsate NY/PA

try 08742 thats smack dab central.

I'd be more than happy to take a gander at some stuff for you as long as its not far. Start checking craigslist for North/south/central NJ and see if you find anything.

all that effort for an axle that will be covered in rust and pb full of mud and need a complete rebuild...:confused:I dont get it. Seriously, you just have to keep your eyes open and ear to the ground. I bought one to resell a few years ago at a jy for $200. There are deals to be found. Even if you do have to pay $1k for one, which is maybe slightly on the high side for one that isnt rebuilt, is still not bad. You got to pay to play my friend!

EDIT also 90% of the time, its cheaper to buy a whole truck for cheap and part out the rest than it is to buy an axle.

uao85 your right. I am looking all around for the best deal possible. If that best deal was in 08742 that would be the route I would take. I have searched out all the yards and pasters close to home and starting to move my search grid out. I don't need one tomorrow or this weekend as I now have a 14FF to get busy on but I am looking. Thanks for the idea about getting the whole truck and parting out the rest of what I dont need. I am always looking for money saving ideas, that is why I am on here.

So, my offical request to all that have been kind enough to chime in is as follows. Don't go out of your way, but if you should find what you might believe to be a good deal on a front D60 (and you don't need it) please pass along the info for me to consider.

I will "pay to play" but like everybody else I do have a budget to work within. If I didn't I would have called up Curry and had a set shipped to me long ago. BTW, Curry is the only axle shop I could think of at this time, I am sure there are others out there.

Here in California a D60 front goes anywhere from $1000.00 - $1200.00 on average with a few exceptions of finding one for less. Remember, this is a supply and demand type item so that is what drives the pricing up.

i searched for almost 5 years before i even found a 60f, i actually found a complete flatbed k30(minus the motor & frontcap) for $800 and proceeded to strip it for all it was worth, i got the axles, the sm465/np205, d-shafts, springs, gauges, glovebox, ashtray, wipers, heater box, doors, wiring harness and fuse panel, and everything else that i could bolt off, then i sold the steel flatbed for $500, and scrapped the rusty frame and cab, for $200/sum'n.....so i wound up w/all those parts for under a $100. i posted pics when i trailered everything home....i plan on selling the 56'' rear springs b/c i won't use them, which will put those parts free, but like i said it took me @5 yrs to find that deal. and its not like i found others and they were just to expensive, that incredible deal was the 1st srw 60f i found, it was almost 4 hrs away from home sitting in the weeds behind a farm shop in Greenville, Mississippi.

i gave 1250 for mine totally rebuilt on its second owner from boyce equipment.it came with a locrite, brake lines and spring plates and u bolts as well.just buy my truck thats in the classifides and you will have one :D
