well, the guy is en route with a Dana60/14Bolt out of an 84 CUCV. he says they have 4.56's and a detroit in the 14FF. i know when he gets here before i give him the money im gonna pull the 14FF cover and make sure i can see the springs of the detroit in the carrier. is there any way to make sure they have 4.56's without pulling the covers??? i wanna make sure the D60 has them, but also the 14FF.
thanks guys:crazy:

The front will (should) have a tag on that says the gears, both # of teeth and the ratio itself. BOM should be a 610201.....either a 1 or 2 after that.....

Right on the diff cover, held on by one of the bolts. IF someone didn't take it off. There might be another tag that has the BOM too, but maybe that is Ford????

awesome man...thanks. hopefully that tag is still there. do you guys think 1400 is fair for these axles. he says he hays paperwork saying there is 22k miles on them. and he's giving me wheels and tires also.

Yeah I'd say it's a good deal, shouldn't have to do anything to them. The BOM will be on the axle, inless there is alot of paint, or doubtful alot of rust on the tube. If I can read the BOM from an axle up here, you shouldn't have a problem from one down there.

awesome. will the BOM numbers match??? that's what will tell me their cucv axles right???? thanks again guys~

another way is to have the rear axle on jackstand and count the yoke rotations to 1 tire rotation....basically the formula is

1 tire rotation=a lil over 4 1/2 rotations of the yoke...

with that being said pull both cover make sure there isnt any metal in there...i made the mistake one time and bought a 9 inch that had a detroit and a 488 for 200 bucks everthing spun right both drums and all....got home and took it apart it had a broken axle shaft not so bad right...WRONG it had broke the splines in the locker...look at everything well just to make sure your getting good stuff...good luck!!

got em guys....with tires/wheels, but he's missing the ubolts/plates that go with them. and when he removed them he cut the ubolts out...so the two studs on the pass side are cut off, i need to find a way to remove them and get new studs. anyways, i paid 1400 and they're downstairs...we're gonna pull them all apart today and see what we got to work with.
thanks guys

not a bad deal... yeah that sucks though about the studs.... gotta get them out and put new ones in... other than that you dont want to re-use ubolts..expecially someone elses!!!!! they stretch when you tighten them down... so to put them on your truck they would need to restretch and I wouldnt trust that!!!
