Can I re-use my diff cover gasket?

Those gaskets are crap, Ive always used RTV. clean the surfaces really well, and put a thick bead on and let it setup for 10-15min and then slap it together.
otherwise, if you didnt tear your gasket or its not too flattened out, you have a 50/50 chance itll hold.

Last time I took my front cover off, the gasket looked brand new, so I didn't scrape it off. I just put RTV on top of it. It hasn't leaked at all.
I like this product from Permatex called "Right Stuff"
This latest elastomeric rubber gasket technology is blowout resistant and outperforms pre-cut gaskets. Specified on production lines by GM, Ford, DaimlerChrysler and Mercedes-Benz. i always use black permatex.it works on any serface that needs to have a oil seal.if you reuse the old seal,use a thin bead of permatex on both sides of the mounting surface and you will have no problems.

It will hold a BTF cover in place with the bolts removed . If you use a factory cover , YOU WILL bend the cover prying it off . Good stuff
