Can I remove frame stiffeners?

Scored 2 freebie saddle gas tanks from '70 pick up. Wanted to modify them to fit under '78 K5. discovered what appears to be body stiffeners under each side. Can I remove these to mount tanks without any problems with body? They run from front body mount to rear mount outside frame on both sides.

Those aren't stiffeners, they're your body mounts. 31 gallons isn't enough?

hope there 15 gal short bed tank if your going to TRY and fit them under there.

20 gal long bed tanks are to long if you ask me.

I was hoping to eliminate a jerry can on the spare tire carrier. Lot of weight with a 35" tire.
