im trying to remove the old balljoints from some flat tops and was wondering if i can do it myself or do i have to take it somewhere? what kind of place would do this? auto parts store maybe?

Don't get the one from harbor freight, they will bend. Get a rental tool or do what I do and use a H-beam hydraulic press.

I've got the one from Harbor Freight and have had no problems with it as of yet. I've removed 12 ball joints and 3 or 4 u-joints so far. I even put my 1/2" impact on it for one set of particulary stubborn ball joints.

I think with Harbor Freight it's hit or miss with some of their tools. I've broken a few of their hand tools the first time I used them. Once I exchanged them for new ones I didn't have any more problems.

Harbor freight sells a 4wd press and a generic press. The 4wd version appears to be a bit beefier and has worked for me so far. An impact wrench is a nice thing to have for that as well.

i did mine last week i think. just did my brakes as well cause everything is apart. i rented a ball joint remover and it took 2 of us to get it in. wasn't much fun. can't wait to get kingpin
