With one of these?

http://www.aerotanks.com/veh/diamondplates.htm

I`m thinking of getting one of there top fill, aluminized steel tanks, in the 20 gallon flavor to replace the tank under the bed of the blazer. Its about 3/4 of the way down, part ST-20. It says additional parts needed, what would I need?

I`ll be converting my blazer to a pick up soon, so I think this will be perfect to put behind the "cab wall" and get rid of the big tank underneath. I figure at least 200 miles to the tank full, and this gets rid of the giant tank waiting to be puntured. Plus, this will make it easier to do the rot work to my rig in the bed area. If I can set it up good, I`ll be able to pull the tank completely, do the work, do the pick up cab wall, then put the new tank in...

It say`s they`re legal, so I shouldn`t have any problems, right?

This may be a better idea....

A stock replacement tank for 87-91 pickup.

Everything from my tank will switch over, correct? ie, fuel pump, sending unit, etc?

Then I could get a piece of diamond plate or thick metal bent up as a "sheild", and get a filler neck to come through the top....

Don't believe they are legal in any state as a fuel tank for vehicles other than a transfer tank for filling equipment. Plus, it would have to be a special tank and pumps etc because most of these are use with diesel fuel. A good fuel cell would be a better, safer choice and cost about the same anyways.

Are the fuel cells legal to use though?

Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, I'd guess your stock sender won't work with that tank. And it probably won't fit.

I'd go with a ~25 gallon fuel cell with an external pump mounted in the rear of the truck.

What won`t fit, the sender, or the tank? I can get a new sender, if thats all I`ll need.

Is there a fuel cell that is legal to use on the street?

Sender won't fit, And I don't think the tank will physically fit where you want it.

Fuel cells should be legal if they retain all emission type connections. Don't see how'd they be illegal on a saftey issue, since they can be in most cases safer than O.E. fuel tanks.

I tried searching, but I`ve yet to find fuel cells that were legal. So, if I get a tank and sending unit, then will it work?

I don`t see why the tank wont fit across the bed floor right behind where i`m putting the pickup wall, there is about 5 feet right there...

So, if I buy the 87 tank, and the sending unit for it, I can use it no problem? If you don`t know where it is going, it will be mounted going across the bed floor, right behind the cab. Is the fuel pump an intank pump in these? The part numbers are the same on autozone for either tank....
