Can I run a fuel pressure gauge off the 2nd output of a regulator?

Seemed like a simple enough thing...fuel regulator with dual outputs, one carb...run gauge off second output that would otherwise be plugged? Couldn't find anything one way or the other on Google, or in various regulator install manuals on whether this should/shouldn't be done...seems like it would be the same whether that output is feeding a carb or plugged, but couldn't find if this would cause some kind of oddball issues...

should work... it would normally feed the second bowl of a carb or a second carb in a dual carb setup..
So it should read the output pressure..

That's what I figured...a gauge isn't really any different than a plug, at least in my mind. I was just surprised that I couldn't find anything on it one way or the other.

Which is exactly the same thing I am about to do on one of my project trucks...I had 2 lines split off of a dual port regulator..one to each bowl..

I'm going with a single line to a new carb now and was going to just plug the second port.

Maybe I'll just throw a gauge in the second port and see how it works...:D

I just ordered a regulator from Summit, should be here tomorrow, and on the truck sometime this weekend to replace a chintzy parts store Mr Gasket regulator...though I don't think I have two pressure gauges on hand to compare readings, and wasn't sure if/how I could verify whether it messes with flow to do it this way. I don't currently have a gauge in the works, largely due to not wanting it flopping around in the rubber hose run, and the regulator has failed wide open. Figured the dual output thing would help to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Then again, it probably can't be any worse than the current Mr. Gasket garbage...

Yes, your idea will work fine. Also, look at the new regulator for an 1/8" plug on it, many of the regulators sold now have a gauge port. I have a new Holley regulator to put on my Blazer this weekend, it's got the 1/8" port but BG regulator I took off had a gauge plumbed off of the 2nd output port. That set up worked great for probably 20 years.
