Can I use a 4l60e transmission case to build a 700r4?

I have a useless 4l604 that was out of my 98 k1500 before I replaced it. I would like to build up a non-electronic manual shifter for my K5. Would I be able to use this case because the 700R4 is the same transmission without the electronic solinoids? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I thought the same thing, but will he need the governer for the full manual 700?

he'd have to buy a manual valve body for a 4L60E, it would still be a 4L60E.

in 96 or 97 the 4L60E change the output pattern to a 6 hex shape similar to the th400 but its just a little smaller than the th400 pattern, so a special adapter would be needed. if hes using a 208/241 then you could use the factory adapter.

Wow. I didn't know that and assumed that it was the same. I almost went that route with my 4L60E, and was going to retain my TH400 version 203 for my new Doubler. What does GM think when they do that stuff? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
