I am a little new on this but I was wondering if i could swap my 1989 3/4 ton 2wd th400 in my blazer chassis. Can I remove my tail stock and bolt it to my 208 transfer case? The stock trans is a th350 but i am not confident it will last and I have an extremely reworked 400 out of my jumping truck that I would like to use and save a few bucks. Thanks in advance you guys rock!!

Yes, no, maybe...

It all depends on the 400's tailshaft and what transfer case. If your using the t-case from your th350 the adapter and t-case input shaft are wrong. That said, I have used a 2wd 400 with a pre 85 version 205 (with 32 spline input) with no mods.

so in other words I have to take the tc off and count the splines to see if they are the same as the 2wd 400? Another question for you, I looked at the specs column and it said that my year of blazer chassis came with the 10 bolt front end but it looks like a d44 but it has auto hubs. Also what is the disadvantages of those hubs.

I hate to tell ya but the auto hubs will let you down when you need them. By nature they are junk with age.

As for the t-case, you 350 set up will have a 27 spline input whereas a 40 will use 32. Also the adapter between the trans and t-case is shaped differently so that wont work either. It is possible to convert using your existing stuff but it may be easier to find a used "turn key" trans/t-case set somewhere.
