Can i use square port headers with my round port heads?

i have some nice headers that came off some peanut port heads and i am using my 049s for my build up and the headers that came off of it kinda just fell apart on one side. is there any reason i can just use the square port design? umm, 454 motor, of course...

Headers are pretty much headers for a BBC. It's the intake manifolds that should match the intake ports on the head.

what is the difference in port size?
Ideally I would think you would want them the same, if not that then the headers slightly bigger than the port.

they look to be about the same size. just one is round and one is more square...

I concur. I just got a new set of headers that have large round ports and my heads have a semi square ports. I could of used my old headers that have square ports but the old headers have the tubes too small.
