A 10 bolt or 12 bolt under a 6,000 lb Blazer that is going four wheeling is going to live a short life before it is swapped anyway.
I would weld the snot out of it. I just welded up my friend's 10 bolt about two weeks ago. It has 3.42 gears and is essentially worthless. when it goes out we'll just put a 14 bolt in it, likely one out of my own backyard (probably weld that too).
