Can I weld it?

Is it possible to weld up a Gov Loc 14bolt? Don't they still have spider gears, just 3 instead of 4? Could you weld them up?

sure, just gut it out and remove all the clutches and center gears, then weld the spiders right to the carrier itself.

Well, detroits are all well and good, but in a 14 bolt full floater they use the factory open carrier. He has a Gov Lock. The two carriers are different. So he would have to get the proper carrier. I cant see the point of NOT welding it, myself. I have my rear end welded and love it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif



POOHBAIR: Yes it is possible, just had a gov lock apart last week. Gut the clutches and it will weld up good. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
