Good morning guys,
I just converted over to disc brakes on my burb with a 14bff. Can someone measure and tell me what length of hard lines I need on both sides of the dropped brake line and enough room to bend up and over to the caliper.

My DD is in the shop right now and the burb is out of commision. I have to drive through town today in my bus and can stop by autozone and pick the hard lines up but will not have a way back in town if I waited and check when I got home. My wife will be dropping me off at the house and she is leaving to go stay with her mom who just had surgery.

Finish the brakes, mount the shock, and bolt up the gas tank and I should be done. FINALLY!

One other question.

The gas tank straps, if the rubber spacer is completely worn out, can they still be mounted or do I need to find somekind of rubber to replace them?
thanks

unsure of length, but i just got mine all hooked up. I used 36" hard lines, 85 2wd astro van front lines, and 86 chevy 3/4 ton calipers. The soft lines are maybe 10" max. Not very long at all.

Id rather have the gas tank straps to keep it from being metal to metal. You can get them at the chevy dealership. Or im sure you could get creative and use something from home depot.

My hard lines are sitting on my bench. Are you looking for stock measurements or more to bend up? Let me know and ill measure for you.
Just did my gas tank and I think its a tar type paper (roofing) between the tank/cross member/straps to stop the wear. I would definately use something there.

it sounds like you are trying to just use hard lines.you need a soft line at the caliper end so when it move during operation.otherwise you will break it from fatigue.i used my stock line and just added a softline from azkicken 4x4.i dont know if they are still on here.but you definitely need a soft line at the end and should be able to use the stock hard line.

I thought I read that the same way but figured hes just trying to use stock soft lines with a zero rates/blocks or something:confused:. Good call on that if hard lines were the plan.

if you dont know,a good short soft line for the hard line to the caliper are '78 chevette lines(front lines) a lot of people use them, and so do I!

20996 rubber brake hose
7818 fitting for rubber hose to hard line

These are the Napa part numbers we just used for my buddys k5. They are a little long but worked good. I believe they are the chevette lines.
