It you have a welder, you can make a small frame around the hatch for the plate to lay on, with the riv nuts in the corner.

pay attention where you cut it so that you can access all the fittings and hoses as well as the pump

Good idea on the frame. Part of my reason for doing this is to fix the trapezoid shaped hole the previous owner cut to access the pump.

Or I could do what they did and glue some carpet over the hole just kidding .
