Never seen this before. Looks to be more complicated than needs be. But what do I know . . . just looking to learn something. If enough interest, I'll post the link to where I found it.

70 to early 80 ford van

gm tried it on vans, blazers and even station wagons to keep drive height low, but decided no thanks
so a dana salesman bought the rights and started VEMCO a van conversion company around '72. it grew into also offering ford and dodge versions.
the company folded in 1980 after about 8 years.
the differentials are custom and point towards the transfer case.
the ford version is apparently stronger than the gm version.
no low range except two prototypes
there are supposedly a gleason torsion differential or two inside.
each front axle is basically a spool.

It is 2 dana 30 diffs

this one isnt a ford. but shows the concept. The ford has the ttb style

I don't remember what the early Jeep Wagoneer IFS system looked like, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that.

Looks real interesting to me. I'm interested to know what it is.

EDIT wait a second... I now see Chris' pic. Very odd!

Oh how badly I wanted to make it into the A-Team van.

My nickname for a while was merdock lol

First time I ever saw or heard of THAT drive setup!....seen quite a few 4x4 vans but most were older Pathfinders or Quigleys, and I never got a good look of the undersides of most of the ones I came across....................................looks almost like a v-drive unit off a boat that they used,I saw a Borg Warner one off a boat someone junked at the yard once..its pretty bizzare for a street driven van though!..but Fords are bizzare anyway!....................................................................................Seeing the vans in this thread makes me wish mine was on the road ,and less faded and rusty...maybe I should have stuffed the 4x4 drivetrain under it from my 77 GMC instead of junking it when the tranny lost reverse...................so many toys,no money to play with them..:(

That CL van is crazy. 4x4 and a 460?! Too bad its about $4500 more than I'd pay for a 70's ford van with a mural all over the back. I bet the inside is full of velvet funk and dirty shag.

There was an article about these vans in 4 wheel off road, about a year ago.
