Middle of page 2, this member explains what sounds like a hand held pump and gas can. I don't know, but it sounded really neat and probably something to keep at camp. I would message the member, but he/she hasn't been on since 2010 :doah:

Here's the quote:

you know,....... one trick i picked up was to get a boat fuel bulb and check valve and enough fuel line to run the whole length of you truck and a marine type gas tank with gas just incase your fuel pump dies on you in the woods all you got to do is pump and drive .... saved my ass in my old nissan 720 4x4
Thinking about this, I wonder if I should be carrying an external pump. If the internal fails, put the external in place of the the fuel filter on the frame. This way I don't have to pull the factory sender. (yes, the bed is cut) :dunno: Of course, now that I've read it a couple times, he might be talking about a carb :haha:

I'm currently thinking a lot about trail and camp gear. I'm kinda in that stage.

Its basically a primer system. I used one to start a truck the other day. Its I believe for outboard boat motors, about the size of a skinny redbull can. Just goes in line and you squeeze it, and viola, fuel..

I've been replacing primer balls left and right the last couple yrs.. the ethanol's been eating em up...

I'd say a spare electric pump would be best..

You will still be walking if your truck has EFI,only carbed engines will run with "no" fuel pressure!....and you can use gravity feed on a carb,so no real need for a pump to start with..

I carry one but it's in case someone runs out of fuel you can transfer from another vehicle.

I have a plastic 5 gallon boat fuel tank and a holley electric pump that I use to get old trucks etc running when they have been sitting for years...

I throw the tank in the front seat,,, run the hose out of the window to under the hood,,,cut the original line off at the carb,, hook up my electric pump to the carb.... hook the two wires to the battery from the electric pump and I'm ready to start it up...

bypasses the old rusty smelly gas in the tank,,,rusty fuel lines,,, pump on the engine,,it makes sure I have plenty of nice clean fresh gas in the carb ....

I take the boat tank with me on 4x4 weekends in case someone's fuel system craps out in the woods... I haven't had to deal with high pressure fuel injection yet as nothing I own has FI on it....:D
