Been searching Craigslist for a few days looking for a box. I don.t need one now, but will buy one when I find a good deal. This seems like a good deal.

Mac Top and bottom box in great used condition. Price dropped to $675 obo. Needs to go I need space in the garage. This holds a ton of tools. 27" wide 18" deep and 60" (5 feet tall). It is a nice sized box. All drawers slide nice and everything works like the should. Rolls nice, but I never rolled it around much. I can't find the keys but they are like $5 from Mac. This is the Davey Allsion Collectors Mac Nascar box. These are selling for $1800-$1000 on Craigslist and ebay I need it to go as I have no room. Just got a new box and and the garage is packed now. I am asking $750 OBO dropped to $675 obo

This really is a nice box. Nice clean and not all stickered up. the logos and stickers that are on it are from Mac and the way the box came. Limited edition box for the Ford or Nascar fan, or if you just want a nice box.

*wanted name brand, snap on, mac ect, but don.t know what I should look for in a good box? What do the good boxes have that others don't.

I'd see if he goes 600.. always keep in mind expansion.. you will fill it sooner than you think and may need to hang a side locker or drawers on it at some point....

Mac's are nice boxes, that line isn't quite as nice as the Maximizer stuff, but good quality. couple mechanics I've worked with had similar... what generally sets a good box apart from a decent box usually are the slides... my drawers work better when stuffed heavy with tools..

said it before, for as nice as a maximizer, or any Matco is, nothing touches a KRL...

oh, and the obligatory, has it been mic'd and checked for magneticism? :haha:

The difference between a good box and a not so good box is gauge thickness of the drawers and stuff, ball bearing slides, versus plain slides, good casters versus crappy little casters.

The big name boxes are a good bet, but they can be spendy. He may be having trouble selling because it's such a tall box...which has fallen out of favor among the wrench turning crowd. Go to almost any shop and see what guys that do it for a living are using now, and mostly you'll see long low boxes. Not so tippy, so easier to move around, plus the top doubles as a work surface.

I have a Craftsman set-up like that Mac set-up. 5 feet tall...I never moved it unless i pretty much had no other option. It's spooky to say the least.

Seems like a good price for a box for a home set-up where it'd be stationary 99% of the time.

my bosses craftsmen is like that.. he's got 2 3 drawer middle sections... fockers like 7' tall! ya need a stepstool to see in the top of it... ;)

i generally recommend to noobs that you knuckle under and get as big a rollcab as you can afford, 2 or 3 bank...

keeps workspace on top.. ya can put a narrow, older used top on one end, which i did for yrs... then when i got my top, i liked the low factor

that's not a bad deal for the box, and davey allison makes it kind of cool.

he doesn't mention whether it's ball bearing or not, if it is, it's a really good deal, if not, then it's an ok deal, but i would hit him at 6... 5' isn't that tall, and 27" aint that wide, easy to find a spot for in the garage.

The pics make it look taller. It looks 6' but only 5'. I wanted a table top, low and long style but they are so spendy. The fact that I have little room to work with and have a large 12' x 3' wood workbench. This box would probably work better for the space I have right now. Also don.t have to bend down to get at tools with a tall box:rolleyes:

The only thing new that is somewhat in my price range is craftsman and a few from amazon that I.ve never heard of. Going over there after dinner. Will snap a few shots to see what you think:waytogo:

It doesn't have roller bearing drawers, but it has a nice thick construction, large hd locking casters, its big shiny and black. I offered him $400 cuz it does have some small ruff spots and we met at $475. He threw in a bunch of big wrenches 1 1/16 to 2". A sk prybar, breaker bar, and some hammers. I'm happy, I'll clean it up and it will look great. Now I need one of those stickers of the little dude peeing to put above the ford emblem.:haha:
