i will only be able to get on here a few more hours, so hope someone can help me out.

there is no "factory tags" or paper work left on my truck.. ie.glove box..

so how can i find out which color TVS switches i need?

when i bought the truck there wasn't any on it..its susposed to have them, and when i went to smog it the first time, i had to put them on..but i had no clue which color to get, i was able to narrow it down by studying a vaccume diagram so i knew how many ports each needed to have.

but still there was several different colors to chose from. i beleave the different colors repersent temps that they work...

so i bought the colors that the dealer sold the most of, but that doesn't necessarilly mean its the right color.

so is there anyway to figure out what color my truck is susposed to have.

Look at same year 1/2 ton GM trucks at local salvage yards too see what they use.

ouch... hmm, after careful and thoughtful consideration all I can say is I'm glad I went diesel. I don't even know what that switch is your talking about. :doah: Wish I could help more.

Hey, find a local library tomorrow. You should be able to get an hour or two per day of free computer/internet time each day that way.

tvs...thermostatic vaccume switch...(turns vaccume on and off at set temps)

i could look for another 82 in a junk yard i guess..but are the colors different based on what the truck has..ie. motor size, tranny...etc...

even lmc truck list several different colors for '82 350 m/t.

I lucked out being in AZ , they just looked for EGR , PCV , smog pump etc . They didn't look at the routing or switches . I removed ALL of mine and run EGR and others directly to their vacuum ports on carb and intake . Since it is rarely cold here in AZ . I pass the actual emissions test at less than half allowed every time :D

well that doesn't help much, i have the same catalog...for instance

i need a 2 port style number (1)
so i have the choice of black, blue, white, purple, green, natural

and a 4 port style number (8)
and have the choice of red, blk/green, blu/purple..

still don't know which color im susposed to get :dunno:

If it helps mine were black , and also green . Only one year newer than yours . Green on thermostat housing , and black on intake .

yeah thats the colors i got, because those were the colors the dealership said they sold the most of...
but i have a few problems with the items running off of them not running like they should (turning on when they should)
so i have always wondered if i have the right colors for my truck?..dunno?
