Can you check my list....

if you get a small amount of backspacing...the wheel bearings are going to wear out alot faster along with balljoints...Its alot more stress put on them.

get 15x10's with like 4"bs...you run a massivly wide tire, its already gonna stick out alot.

I run 2.5" backspacing on a 60, bigger bearings and kingpins...with 15x10's, 2.5" bsing, and 38x1250 TSL's, my outside tire to outside tire is just over 88" wide!

yep, 4" of bs is what I was looking at w/ the last link I posted to those black rims from summit...

one other thing too though is not enough BS and you may have tire to steering gear clerance issues at full scrub. Some guys even run a dually front with reg wheels. Serious scrub but it clears the frame... then again those guyrs are running 4D4s...

Other than him having gargantuan wide tires, i only see possibly the frame being his worry, but if he doesnt have that now, he might not later.

lol, I like the width of my tires because it will work well once I get to the sand...plus cosmetically it looks right compared to a sky high lift on a fullsize truck then little pizza-cutter tires. You know what I mean?

I need new tires anyway so I don't have to go 16" wide but I'd still like some width, maybe drop down to the 12.5-14" range...
of course I'm still unsure of what tires to get, the tried and true TSL stands out time and time again but I've also been interested in some Toyo AT's that a ton of guys run around here or some Trxus STS-AT's...yeah I know, Trxus' but I like them and I think for what I do it would suit me well.

Avery if your gonna run mostly sand then I say stick withn the superwide tires The truxes STS would be a good choice good highway manners and excellant in the sand and resonabaly priced

Yeah that is what I was thinking...I know that I won't have 800hp and a crazy drivetrain so I figure I'll just float on top and get some practice in the sand. Out in the dunes even the best rigs on paper get stuck because people don't know what they are doing. My dad is a great driver and he takes us through some super soft sand in my mom's bone stock tahoe so more than anything I'm sure thats what I need; practice.

If thats what you want then get 16" rims and the Truxus STS tires and never look back, and will never have to grind.

Yep they make the radial in a 38X15.5-16, I've heard that the difference in the tread between the bias-ply's and the radials on the Trxus' is a huge difference compared to other tires.

http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/products/productline.asp?height=38&width=ALL&rim=16&Manufacturer=3203&LoadRating=ALL&cat=TIR&prodline=3203&catName=TIRES&man=INTE&search=true

I would just assume go with a TSL because its a tried and true design that just works, plus they are pretty cheap. The only downside is that I'm afraid a TSL would dig in too much at the beach...anyone run TSL's how do they do aired down? Bias-Ply, Radial, SSR, just let me know what you have...

I see that you already have Mickey Thompsons on your truck, do you like them? How is the road noise and handling from them? Why not try another Mickey Tompson tire as they are all cheaper than that Truxus STS.

I love my Mickey Thompsons....they handle great and are treating me well for as low as the rears are tread wise. The quality of the rubber that they use is incredible and the compound is spot on...its just right.

The only problem w/ the Baja Belteds is that they only come in a 36 and a 39...MT tires seem to run small (also depends on what rims I mount them on) but I'm snug w/ my current tires that are 38.5" but they only measure 37" so I know a 39" would hit...and a 36" that would really be a 35" or so is just too small.

They make the ATZ in a 38.5x15.5R-15LT...looks pretty cool.

But again for the price I might just go w/ the tried and true tsl's or some Toyo's like everyone around here runs.

Check out the Truxus Mud Terrains. They are supposedly one of the best tires on the market for on road/off road performance. Do a search here on that tire, I'm sure you will be impressed. Plus price is pretty resonable too.

Yeah I have a buddy that runs them on his dd f250 that he also uses to take his camper to Pismo and he said they do quite well in the sand...if I go that route I might as well go with an Irok Radial...they seem to be keeping everyone happy.

EDIT: I just checked and they only make the Trxus Mud Terrain up to a 35".

Keeping it simple this might just be the answer to my problems...cheap, exact same size I have now and it gets the job done...
