Can you make a 1989 to 91 Suburban V1500 4x4 350 V8 to dually?

Why ?..the rolling resistance from 2 more tires, extra weight of a 1 ton axle, lower gearing, wind drag from the dually fenders, all that = less mpg..

This will not help your fuel efficiency at all.

In addition to costing time, money, and efficiency, I don't think a 1/2-ton Burb has anything to gain from the extra wheels. It's not like your suspension will support the few thousand pounds of extra wheel capacity. I'm pretty sure that this mod is done for aesthetic purposes only. :dunno:

Agreed, the 1/2 ton frame and springs will be a limiting factor--though I see many 1/2 ton Suburbans, even 2wd ones, used to tow huge trailers and car trailers with the stock single rear wheel axle,I think the only thing you'd gain by putting a dually axle under one is better anti-sway control and help the tires last longer by sharing the load..and maybe "better looks",if you think it looks cool...

Personally I dont like the big fenders sticking out--I see quite a few dually's and Suburbans with the rear fenders all cracked because the driver "forgot" they stuck so far out..I had a G-30 van based Rockwood camper with a fiberglass camper body that jutted out 6" past the mirrors, and more than once I almost wrecked it when I tried driving down a narrow alley, and figured "well--the mirrors cleared,so I think it'll fit ok...then SCRRRAAAPPE !.....

If I recall, I believe the fenders used on Suburban models were different than those on the pick ups. The rear doors are closer to the wheel wells than they are on the pick ups. I seem to remember there being special dually fender extentions somewhere specifically made for Suburbans.

J.C. Whitney used to sell them as a supplement to their dual rear wheel adapter kits...probably still do..
