Can anyone tell me about this axle? I believe it to be a d44. And that it used to be full time (truck has a 203). Am I right? And also, I dont know the difference between a regular 44 and an hd. Any imput would be appreciated. All the extra gear oil on the cover is from me pulling the cover to check the gears which were 4.09. It was failrly clean to begin with. No noticable leaks. I paid 500.00 for the truck. A 76 single cab 3/4 ton. Its complete minus the rear window and some colum pieces. It has a 14blt under the rear. A few extras, eddelbrock intake, headers. etc.. I think I got a decent deal

You've pretty much got all the good details; 3/4 ton D44 w/ 4.09 gears.

I believe to definitely find out about it being an "HD" you'll have to run the BOM number from the axle tube. The big difference between reg and HD is the axle tube thickness.

Any idea where those numbers are? Im gonna pull them from the truck soon so I'll be able to get them cleaned up and look for more numbers.

they should be on the drivers side axle tube....prolly covered with a bunch of dirt/mud/grime and such...kind of a pain in the ass to find sometimes. it will prolly be right in line with your tie rod. good buy in my opinion.

if it says 44-5c on the Right side corner of the diff on the front, its a .500 wall tube d44 front. Looks identical to the one i had in my 3/4 ton 74'.

Those hubs are the external style hubs, it has flat top knuckles on it as well.

The more I read the more I like my purchase! Now all I have to do is get them under the blazer! But, gotta make a few more purchases first... disk brakes, lockers... etc

A good 3/4 ton set, a sbc edelbrock intake and headers for $500? Plus all the extra stuff to part out. Nice snag.

PS: The warns alone are worth almost $200
