Cannot remove auto hub!!!

So, went to pull auto hubs to throw in some warns, got one side off with no problems, got to the other side and found that the prong or leg, what ever it might be called on the outer lock ring busted off, you cant even see it... So now how the he!! do I remove this thing, any one got any tricks, my only solution would be to pull the whole hub off and try cutting it out but cant get the hub socket in to the wheel nuts..

I'd post pics, but have yet to figure out how.

I would try to get a good grip on the prong you do have a yank it out through the little hole

I tried that, but just with the cheap pair of needle nose pliers i had on me, I'll have to try it with a good pair of vise grips...

My #57 has always been broken on both sides. It was years before I realized there was a different version...

What I have always done is get two little flat blade screwdrivers and a pick. Use one screwdriver (or pointy tool) to hold one end of the ring in place so it doesn't spin in the groove. With the other tool (in your other hand), work it under the edge until you can pop it up. It may take several tries. Then hold everything still while you get the pick underneath the snap ring. Now you are in the clear. Work the pick around to get the ring out of the groove.

When the snap ring is out you can grind the ends into tapers that lets you slide a tool under an edge easier. Or replace it.

Well finally got the ring out with a good set o vise grips and pulled out through the opening, now I wonder if a small part of it busted off because the outer clutch housing will not budge

Did you remove the snap ring #56? You should be able to move the whole unit in and out a bit even with the snap ring in. Any signs of rust in there?

Yup 56 is off and out of the way, I have so far busted out all the internals so the only thing that is left is the outer clutch housing... might try to use a puller on it now, or see if a socket will fit in on the wheel nut to remove the hub and beat it out, but then the outer bearing would be in the way.

So you broke out all of the internal parts that connect to the axleshaft? That means it must be frozen to the hub. Try tapping it in a little with a drift and hammer to free it up. Then you should be able to screw the little cap mounting screws into the locking hub "body" for something to pull on.

I'm pretty sure you can't get the wheel bearing nuts out with that piece in place - even if somehow you could turn them without the giant socket.
