So.... I thought I got a good deal on the axle, and I guess it would have been a good deal execpt I decided to build it once and build it right. Hopefully I wont be breaking it anytime soon. Sorry I know this was kinda a pointless post but I just thought I would share, because I was bored. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif Later

I am doing the prices for a build on a 14Bolt SF 6Lug rear axle. It is scary if you do it right, just a few hundred from a Dyna Trac axle that is all new, stronger and has a warranty to top it off. I am at $2000.00 between just parts and setting it up for my 1972. Then there is the initial cost of the axle between $550.00-$850.00 it is staggering!!!

Well, if it makes you feel any better, here are some quotes I got for front 60's:

Corby,
Thanks for checking out the website, here's the information you requested. The Dana 60 front axle with disc brakes and a 4.88 ring & pinion from Precision Gear is $2350.00. The options you mentioned are a Detroit locker, add $500.00, a pair of Warn hubs, add $89.00, and the 1410 yoke, add $75.00. So your total would be $3014.00. U-joints are not normally supplied, they run $22.00 each. We appreciate your inquiry, please call to place your order.

you don't even have a locker in there yet. a rebuilt D60 can easily get into the $3,000 range, so your doing pretty good.

Thank you for posting this. Makes me feel a ton better for spending 3.5K on the whole truck!!! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Nope Zakk no locker yet, thats why I welded the spiders /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif I have a extra set of spiders in case I hate the steering. Yeah then in a month I am going to 4.88's and a locker (arb, or detroit). So yeah the list keeps on going.

Heres what I have in mine:

+$1500 - 84 M1008 from Wes with 14B & Detroit and D60 w/4.56s
-$725 - Sale of Remaining parts
=$775

+$450 - Ebay Detroit for the D60
+$165 - ORD Arm
+$175 - MOO Cover with Ram Mount
+$4 - 2 Cans of Rustoleum - Didnt cost me $4500 either (DynaCrack)

=1569 Total.

And I hammer it everywhere I go. I dont believe in upgrade till I break something - meaning, Im not going 35 spline outers till I start breaking 30 spline outers. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

sure does make rockwells seem like a good deal... they dont really need much in the way of extra poop usually (35 spline kits, thick diff covers, new inner shafts etc etc) and over at POR ya see em for $1k for both the front and rear axles. I dont know how much my D60 cost me in the end... and quite frankly I dont wanna know. $2xxx.xx is close enough for me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
