what could causs this: at first start up motor runs great, 5 minutes of warm up and its missing and sounds like its got fouled out plugs but there not. doesnt go back to normal til its 100% cold. its a 1977 350 chevy w/ HEI. its got a manual choke carb so thats not the problem. it does sound similar to a sticking choke. im thinking maybe the coil. what do u guys think?

Have you checked or replaced your plug wires lately? The wires might have too much resistance once the engine gets warm.

hmm, thats possible, they are a pretty old. i remember we had an old outboard boat motor that would fire right up, but once it heated up it ran like crap. turned out to be a cracked coil. thats why i thought it might be the coil. i should just do a complete tuneup and see if that helps. any other ideas?
