looking for the thread that talks about adding springs to the front spring pack to raise the front up to match the rear when you do a shackle flip. tried searching but couldnt find any key words to find it.

What are you trying to find out? What do you use you rig for? I would imagine adding more leaves will make for a stiffer pack. How much lift are you trying to get? Maybe a zero rate and an add-a-leaf would get you there.

well i do alot of trail riding not your rock crawling trails or anything hard core just through creeks and a little mud . i want to do a shackle flip that will get me 4 inches in the rear and i want to raise the front to match the rear . my one friend did it he took a couple leaves out of the rear of another truck he had sitting around but he cant remember witch truck he took em out of and how many leaves he used. he has gotten rid of the truck so he dont remember.

For the work and price, have you considered getting front springs that are built for a 4" lift?

I went with 4" EZ Ride springs when I did my shackle flip.

Why don't you do a shackle flip w/ 52s in the front? I would say a zero rate and an add a leaf would get you close. Or maybe some lift springs for the front but then that would give you a weird feel with stiff springs in the front and soft in the back. You will have to measure the thickness of the springs you are installing if you are going with stock springs because they won't give you much lift. An add a leaf will give the spring pack a bit more arc I belive. So if you can get an add-a-leaf that is one inch thick and adds 2" of lift on top of that plus a zero rate you will get your 4" but I am just pulling those numbers out of thin air.

Sorry but explain Zero-rate i hear it but not real sure about it is it what you gain in a rear shackle flip?

A zero rate is simply a small spring that add nothing to the spring rate, but adds 1" of lift. They are attached using a new center pin for the springs, so they are considered an add-a-leaf, but unlike add-a-leaf's they don't increase the spring rate.

Looks like a tapered lift block to me.

Similar but it bolts to your leaf pack using the centering pin/bolt. It also has offset holes so you can move your axle forward/back an inch to keep it centered in wheel well after lift. Its safer and better than a block because its bolted in.
