Can't get crank seal out of the timing cover. Any tricks?

i can't get the crank seal out of the timing cover. This one is in there tight. i have the hook seal puller. i even bolted the cover to a bare block.

i'm afraid i'm going to bend the cover.

Any tips or tricks?

Take the cover of and drive it out from the back

Had one the other day that was loctited in. I used the hook seal puller to cut the edge of the steel part of the seal, locked vise grips on the torn piece, and twisted. Popped right out.
