WTH!! Im about over electric windows. I cant get the rear window to go up using the key at the tailgate, itll go up with the switch on the dash. It will go down with the key in the tailgate, just not up.

What to check for and / or will I need to replace?

Thanks

I had the same issue. Problem was bad connection at the key switch. Also ran larger wires to run the window. Works well now.

Can you tell me what you did exactly.

1) You said bad connection - did you replace the switch or clean the electronics? what did you do and how did you get to everything?

2) You ran a bigger wire. From where to what point on the truck?

I had to do the bypass switch thingy to get the window up while the tailgate was done, do you have to take the whole regulator out to get the switch out? That is a real mutha frocker to get those two lil nuts off. I was working on it but gave up and wanted to check here before progressing any further.

I had noticed that I needed to turn the key hard to the left to get the window to go up, like it was barely making contact, is there things that can wear out? If so, what would get replaced, the whole cylnder lock for an electric tailgate?

Thanks

The switch housing wears out. The contacts wear out. Everything gets crap on it.

Yes you need to remove the regulator. It is a pain.

I ran a fuse link from the power block on the fire wall drivers side. Not sure yours has one. To the power in on the gate. This was done 5years ago. Now the window key switch does not work at all. I just cleaned everything last time. Should have replaced it all when I had it out.

Ok, so just better to replace the key switch in the back and clean the electrical connections and that should do it?

I can get to the bolts that hold the rear key switch thingy on the tailgate but its not pretty, I have to put the tailgate down and put window out about 1/2 way (supported of course) and I can get a 1/4 turn on the 7/16th bolts that hold it on. Its a slow process for sure, but trying to avoid taking regulator out. lol.

Looks like LMC has the parts, so Ill order them. Im still tempted to just say screw it and go MANUAL.

Is it just the regulator and handle to convert it to manual??

It is a PITA to get the lock housing out to look at the switch. See if any of your buddies has extra wrists and elbows on one arm. I never tried taking the regulator out to get easier access, but maybe that helps. Last time I had mine out I just soldered new contacts into the old switch. I guess it lasted for 5 years, but the OEM one would have lasted longer. I have no idea what the quality is from the ones available now.
