cant get the tires off 16.5 rims with a welding ring..

bought these tires for my m1008. these rims will not fit it.. trying to get them off.. there are stopping my tire machine.

any ideas?? thanks
 
Dish soap! I prefer dawn cause its a nice shade of blue.

Seriously though, you should be able to remove them with spoons or pry bars, oh and yeah, lots of dish soap.
 
if the ring welded on the rim is to tall it will be vary hard to push the bead over the lip as 16.5 tire bead is sharp edge on the back side NOT designed to roll over a lip like reg rims. and reg stuff has a small lip much less than welded on ring trick for 16.5.
 
You are trying to remove the tires from the front of the wheel aren't you?
 
You have to remove it from the side with the well. No matter front or back.

I sure haven't seen every kind of wheel out there but I sure have seen and removed/installed ALOT of tires over the years and i've never seen a wheel yet that the tire had to be removed from the back.
 
It depends on the shape of the barrel. Some wheels are "reversed" and the hump or step that you need the bead to fall into while dismounting will be on the opposite side. I've run into Monster/Clement wheels like this.
 
Here is a pic of a wheel showing the step. You need to dismount on the side with the indention (red arrow), this allows for enough slack to get the shoe on the tire machine (or spoon) under the bead. The smooth side (green arrow) will not allow enough slack and if you do somehow manage to get a grip on the bead you'll most likely tear it.

The indention is usually towards the front of the wheel but not always.

lots of the bling bling crap these days is reverse mount. free's up the front area for better room to design there ugly crap thay call rims.

i have done so many reverse mounts its not funny.:doah:
 
thanks for all the replys. im really thinking now something is wrong with my tire machine.. i had to do a simple job this morning. couldn't even do that

That is exactly what I had and I realized it by myself when I looked at the wheel. It was a deep dish 2" BS wheel.

The picture shown in this post is correct, but not entirely the correct explanation as to why. The step down is to allow enough slack to get the bead of the tire over the outer lip of the rim. When either mounting or dismounting a tire you have to get the back side of the bead down below the step or you won't be able to get all of the tire bead over the rim lip.

Just about any low backspacing wheel (i.e. 2-ish" BS range) will be reverse mounted and thus require the tire to be mounted or dismounted from the back. I have a set of 15's with 2.75" BS like this and so does 78Buford.......he tried mounting them from the front in his garage and then took them to a tire shop, and it even took the tire shop a while to figure out why they couldn't get them mounted.
