Does anyone have any idea how to get the top off of my 89 Blazer with out breaking it? I tried removing all bolts and had 3 of us try to lift it off but it would not budge in the rear. The front lifts but it seams the rear guide pins are rusted in. I don't want to break it but I would really like to get the top off. I already tried using a floor jack but it only lifted the back up off its wheels till the jack slid.

Did ya get the two hidden bolts? They are behind the trim panels and thread up into the top from the under side

:doah::wink1: Those bolts get a lot of people. Got me the first time too.

BTW you don't need to reinstall them when you put the top back on.

LOL..yip, ya got suckerd by the back bolts.

Can someone debunk this myth:

1) Removing the topper repeatedly will cause the seals to fail and thus causing water/rain leaks.

Mine has not leaked over the last 8 years of the top being on and off even after my bedsides have been abused by the trees, and hammered back to somewhat flat.

I always shoot the seals with a little silicone spray just before I put it back on. Keeps the rubber supple (:haha:) and makes a good sealing surface.

I took my top on and off dozens of times and was never very careful with the seals (would set the top on the driveway and drag to the storage place) and never had any leaks. Also never put all the bolts back in. I think the biggest key is to make sure you install and snug up the bolts along the cab before doing the bed rails.
