Cant shift to and from park

It's been a while! I just got married! Yeah I know... But any way I took my Blazer out today ( I drove it a good bit) and when I was pulling it back into my shop I could not get it to go back into park. Its like the shifter will not pull back towards you like it should. I slammed it in and then I was unable to get it out. Again with a big slam I got it out of park. It's like the shifter stopped pulling back like it should. Everything looks ok under the hood and on the trans nothing loose or in a bind.. I dont think its the trans it shifts fine and seems to be free after I get from park... Any ideas?

Not an uncommon problem with newlyweds.......

Otherwise, sounds like you need some lubricant..
On the linkage.

You are far enough south for dirt daubers to build nests in bad places, check the shifter mechanism.

Thanks for the info.. Yes it's a colum shift.... Maybe some pb blaster will free it up.

I had a similar thing happen to me, it felt hard when shifting out out of D i got the likages pretty wet with WD40 and left it soaking all night and it feels ok now.
