Aite guys.. I have another issue wit my beast . Since I got help wit the seat belt, fuel gauge & hurculiner issues .Here we go... I was going for a quick part run today & out of nowhere my brake light came on & my brakes were almost completely out.I had to push down my hardest to get it to stop.I haven't had any sign of any problems with them. I changed my brakes over six months ago .. When I did we bled them all the way around.I checked my brake fluid level & it's fine .there's no sign of leaks any where??? Master cylinder? Power booster? Any ideas of what to & how to fix?

It's your proportionning valve, either there is gunk in it or air.
You will need to push the reset pin on it and bleed the brakes again.

On the engine crossmember. Follow the brake hardlines from the front calipers or the lines from the master cylinder. It's a metal block, I donno, maybe 4-5" long, looks like a big tee for the brake lines to hook into.

There's a rubber button on one end, which will, with argument, press in.

I'd say step one is check the master for fluid level. If you do have a slight leak you missed and one of the reservoirs goes dry you'll get the pedal to the floor thing and a brake light come on.

If you do have an empty reservoir, fill it and start looking for any signs of leaks so you can take care of the source of the problem first. Then you'll need to bleed the front or rear (depending on where the leak was)

My bet is a bad wheel cylinder in the rear...

Did you check the adjustment on the rear brakes? Sometimes those self-adjusters don't work. If the rear pads wear down without adjustment the peddle will need to travel farther before stop.

wait. pressing hard? was the pedal rock solid? sounds like a failed booster to me. fluid problems and brake adjustments don't just happen over night...

Blown brake line? Prolly not where u are though. Up here they blow all the time from rusting out

If the peddle was pretty solid. I would check the easiest and cheapest thing first. Up on the brake booster you have a plastic valve that has a big vacuum hose attached to it. I had this valve break on me and it had the same symptom you described, its a 5 dollar part that any parts store should have in stock. The valve just pushes in.

I think some have misunderstood:
his pedal dropped and he pushed really hard to stop, which actually didn't really make any difference because the air in the system took all that pressure.
No vacuum assist would have had the pedal up not down.
I had the same exact thing he had after I changed brakes, and in my case I changed the master cylinder too and didn't bench bleed it right so after I bled all the brakes and it seemed right drove t a few miles and then hit the brakes and it droped and the light came on. It took a few days to get it all bled properly, ended up letting it drain as I fill the bowls, let go for 3 hours then I closed it and it was good.

Thanx for the responses everyone.... It actually ended being my master cylinder... Replaced it today ... All good ( so far ) but it was pretty scary to be riding & all of the sudden NO BRAKES!!!! Some one trying to kill me...? J/k kinda
