just purchased a restored 72! Blazer wont turn over battery tested fine and plent of spark with the starter any idea what i could trouble shoot?

Well, if it won't actually turn over, turn on the lights and watch them when you try. If they don't change, but you hear a click, then its probably a bad solenoid or starter. If you don't hear a click, then you have a bad connection from the ignition switch to the solenoid or a bad solenoid.

If you hear a click and the lights get dim, then frozen engine, or bad starter. If they go almost out, but nothing smokes, then weak battery even if it checks good.

If they go almost all the way out and you see smoke, then bad connection where the smoke is coming from, or shorted starter.

That should get you some answers.

Here is your problem, you should not have ANY spark at or from the starter and if you do then you have a dead short and a fire isn't far away.

Won't turn over

When I say it has spark its from trying to screw driver start it. I am positive there is a short some where. Taking it to mechanic tomorrow.

Ok, if you "jump" the battery lug of the solenoid with the "S" terminal of the solenoid and you hear a click but nothing more then the starter is bad, if you don't hear even a click then either the solenoid, starter or both are bad.

Put a socket and breaker bar on the crank bolt and see if the engine still turns..... eliminate the possibility of the engine being locked up...

If the engine turns...... you have a starter/ battery issue.

If the starter is shot.....use one of these........

Weird thing when I went out to play with it this morning it fired right up. I think there is a short or something in the ignition switch going to pull it today
