Cap screws

My friends blazer cap has those tamper proof torx holding it down he wants to get the cap off and striped 3 of the torx what should he do ?

I was also thinking mabe matching up mine at home depo and geting him a set of regular bolts are they the same thread pattern hes got a 91 and i got a 89?

Does he have a torx bit to use, or is he trying to use a hex key? A set of torx bits isn't much cash and you find them to be very handy as there are a lot of torx used in the later models.
