a friend of mine was driving a couple nites ago and her car died just as she got to her final destination. she said that it stumbled just a bit, then the radio started flashing and then the engine died. it's got enough power to turn the starter and the lights and what not, so i'm thinking it's not a battery or alternator issue (alternator is brand new). i'm not sure what it would be because of the radio being related, somehow. could it be a distributor issue? timing belt? again, i don't see a relationship to the radio. she says when she cranks the starter, the radio flashes. i'm not too familiar w/ gas engines. any ideas?

early 90's toyota camry or tercel - can't remember.

Id guess a lose connection to something somewhere

might help to have a little more info... driving conditions, and oh, i dont know, the type of vehicle might help just a little.

it would help to know the driving conditions, but i don't know for sure. probably cold, rainy city streets. i think it was dark outside too.

i'm pretty sure it's a 4 cyl.

no idea. don't have time to go check out her vehicle either, so i guess that means it's all a moot point.

Someone needs to check how much voltage is actually in the battery. The starter may crank the engine even though the battery doesn't have enough voltage to support the ECM to allow for spark.
