I pulled my carb apart after having problems with my boat 305 staying running (see this thread http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260457) and found a stuck check ball in the accelerator pump passage way. Anyone have any ideas? I don't know what to try next to get it out. I've soaked it in PB blaster for 3 hours, then tried to blow compressed air in the passage way and it didn't budge. Also tried baking it at 200 degrees then slammed it on a 2x4 over and over and it didn't budge.
Okay... I got the check ball out and I'm convinced that it is the wrong check ball. The ball that was in there when I opened it up was way too big for the seat and stuck up to the point where it would hit the throttle return spring (circled in red).
I had a few check balls that came with the carb overhaul kit and found 2 that fit like the picture shows. One is aluminum and one is chrome... both seem to be the same size. My question is which should go in the accelerator pump well? Aluminum or chrome? Carb is a rochester 2GC (1979)
someone got into this thing,,,, did a carb rebuild/ overhaul and put the wrong check ball in that accelerator pump seat.
