Anyone running a carb intake manifold with a tbi adapter plate? I'm building a new engine and want to run my old edelbrock performer with a tbi adapter plate because the new engine will have a lot more power. I want to know what people did about hooking up the brake booster and where did they hook up the brakets for all the sensor crap and any other problems I might run into?

I'm running a Performer RPM with an adapter. I made the adapter out of 1/4" plate and put it on top of a 1" open spacer. The throttle body butterflies are farther apart than a carb so I used a die grinder to make the transition in the spacer rather than the intake.
The temp sensor will go into one of the coolant holes in the front of the intake. The booster will hook into the fitting in the back passenger side of the intake (number 6 runner I believe). You'll have to modify the knock module bracket and the MAP sensor bracket to bolt it up to one of the intake bolts. The only thing you'll have a problem with is the EGR if the intake is not equipped. The throttle body is equipped with vacuum ports for the PCV, EGR and the charcoal canister. Shouldn't have any problems with connections at all.

I used one of these which is just a factory TBI to Quadrajet adapter for the BB.

As for the sensors,I used all the bracketry and intake bolts off of a 90's model Tb 350.You should have vacumn ports on your intake to tap into.

Thanks, sounds like I wont have to big a problem hooking everything up. I'm not going to be running a EGR so thats not a problem and I thought I saw one of those tbi to quadrajet adapters for sale in the clasified section a wihle ago. It would be nice to use one so I could get rid of my tbi riser and still have a place to hook up the factory brake booster line.

I have one of the factory TBI adapters if you need one. PM me and we can talk price.

Where the heck can I hook up my brake booster to? My performer manifold only has one vacuum port which I need for other stuff. Can I just buy a fitting that can handle more than one vacuum line including the brake booster line. What about a T-fitting in line with the big vacuum port off the front of the TBI unit???

Not a real good idea to t into the PCV hose on the throttle body. Run down to the salvage yard and find a vacuum tree off of an earlier carburated car or truck, they were pretty common with a big 3/8'' nipple or tube fitting and a bunch of smaller vacuum hose nipples as well. Some of the 4.0l ford explorers and rangers had what you need as well.

Yeah I didnt think it would be a good idea to hook it up to the pcv line. So one of those trees should have enough vacuum to run everything including the larger brake booster ( which is a little bit bigger than 3/8 '')?

The trees work just fine, may take a little digging but you'll find one. Let me know if you can't and I'll dig one up and send it to you.

Nope, but i have a buddy who has some that he made on a CNC machine. PM me and i'll give you details.
