When driving normally around town my 75' blazer runs fine but When I step hard on the gas pedal the carb sounds like its bogging down, and the truck starts to backfire and lose power. what would cause this to happen?

more like a misfire....not a backfire! I don't have a timing light, guess I'll be dropping it off at the mechanic!

what kind of carb are you running? on q-jets if the secondaries open too soon it will cause it to bog down and lose power but Im not sure about the backfiring.
