Any recommendations for a lighter carb return spring for my Edelbrock? In my Blazer while cruising at like 20mph it's decent but when on the freeway or acceleration from a stop I have to almost stand on it. Lady friend doesn't find it enjoyable to drive with how much force from her is needed to get the truck moving.

I don't mind where it's at but it does cause some fatigue for longer driving. I have the basic Dorman kit now but just wondering if any has something they like. I see they have kits to mix to your liking, any you guys like?

Have you tried to move where the spring hooks? Cold also kind stretch the spring to help reduce some of the tension.
I run some double spring from who knows what. Mine was stiff when in the woods I removed one of them and made it much better.

I had one spring for quite awhile but I started getting paranoid about failure so I doubled them up.

Buy one good one at the hardware store that does what you want. They use to sell them at the parts stores, and you would bent the hook into the end for length

To be truthful, it's happened 2xs. One w/ my Datsun 510 in high school. That car was a heap, and I'm surprised it didn't murder me.

The other was my previous Jimmy, the return spring had the AZ 'crust' on it, but not rust.

Of course these both happened at full throttle. Spring was stretched out.

Well the first time I had a similar experience was when I was 13 and stole my dad's station wagon and I went full throttle on 1st then I shifted real quick into second and then I got to a right turn, sharp 90, wet from rain earlier, and I pull my foot off the gas pedal and it's still going full throttle, needless to say without experience I hit the brake, without clutch, and I tried to make the turn and just kept going straight into a parked car.
Found out when I was shutting it down the throttle cable got stuck in the sheathing. My first accident.

I had a good friend in high school ( now a retired teacher). When we skipped school one of us would borrow our parents car ( unbeknownst to our parents) for the day so we had wheels. We were 14 or 15 at the time. Those were the days.

Regarding the return spring, my new setup with the pf4 efi has a spring on the throttle lever, I added a secondary spring as advised which didn’t seem to effect the pedal feel. I assume the carb has a return spring on the lever, if that’s the only return spring seems like you would have to change it. If you have a secondary return spring, just disconnect it and see if that softens the pedal. If it does replace the secondary spring with a softer one.
