Ok everyone else is doing it so why not.. no on a serious note..
funny how i have been gone for a bit.. just havent worked on my truck..
but recently i have been having fuel issues making me wonder and start to search on all of this.. and here you guys have been doing the same.
so im not jumpin on the wagon.. was there without even knowing!!!!!!!!

i can get my truck with a holley truck avenger through inspection without problems usually...

well this year is it.. i just cant.. cant pass emmissions.. plus truck is running like crap... tired of the hesitation.. still havent got it gone..
with a roller cam (comp cams xtreme 4x4 .457" lift)
vortec heads
vortec intake and full headers.. my truck just doesnt get out of its own way..
now in the woods i havent got it stuck yet..

this holley is also stumbling up into the secondaries..
i know nothing about carbs..

frankly i never wanted to drop $2-$3k into a EFI system... but now with everyone doing the 6.0L conversion.. i have a few questions..

ok Carb.. my holley if i pay a shop to get it running right will cost say $500...
but ill be carb and no brain.. like that deal...

i found this.. but it is a TB.. is there any real gain on using this as in performance wise... i ask because a motor swap isnt needed, fuel system upgrade not needed... etc...

$900 and up and running already got an email from them

now with the 6.0L's that people are doing...
i can get say a full setup for $1200.. but then need the $400 adjustment from the pirate guy.. then need to get the thing hooked up to my smc465.
your still looking at $2k

so is the throttle body deal horrid? lacking power? not a good choice?
now if i can find a 6.0L with nv4500 mated already.. i could go that route...
just trying to decide...

No idea on that TBI. I'll have my 6.3L (383) on the dyno next week which is using a 54mm TBI. I have no problem spinning my 35" tires. It runs great and passes DEQ.

If I was in your situation where I'd probably have to buy a new carb I'd probably do the 6.0L swap.

I'll be looking into the 6.0 swap next year possibly. The gas mileage and power increase over a 350 will be great

so this brings up another question..
fine if i go with a 6.0L i will be getting the motor/harness/ecu and drive by wire unit all from the same truck.. why not..

well now im told i need a new flywheel, clutch and all... say $500..

so if a 5 speed is $700... and i can get it all from the same truck.. wouldnt that be the chosen way?

so then the question..

since a 2005 6.0L will work in a 78 chevy.. anything special to get the matching transmission to work in it too??? just thinking on the electronics...

Painless makes a harness that will allow you to run a 4l80 i believe. that would be the way ide go if i was going to run an auto. I have about 1400 bucks into my 5.3 swap. and thats just to get the engine running. thats not including my flywheel, clutch and bellhousing. I love it campared to my old 6.6 liter. Mileage was a big factor in my swap. that why i didnt go with a 6 liter. i have a 4500 so i get a way with haveing 4.10s and 38s. i can run 70 down the freeway and be at about 2000 rpms. But ide say go with the 6.0. i swear by lsx engines now.

That TBI system looks ok but I can't say I have of anyone using it.

I'd say do the FAST EZ EFI but I can't say it'd pass emissions, but you can manually control and set the A/F ratio so I guess you could lean it out before hit the inspection place? Someone else with the system might be able to chime in as my truck is exempt.

But for all intensive purposes, my vote is for the LSX swap. BTW you won't find a complete 6.0L and a NV4500 as one package, that is such a rare combo (if it even exhisted), you'd have better luck finding a Ferrari engine to drop in... So you are on your own to find a complete 6.0L with harness, accessories, and ecm. Then find a NV4500 and a GM bellhousing. You will need a new flywheel, clutch, and slave cylinder.
I will tell you though that if the LSX is the route you are going to take, you WILL have to double your budget. I'd set aside at least $4k to get engine/harness/ecm and ecm tune/accessories/trans/clutch parts/fuel system upgrades/conversion mounts/headers or manifolds/all kinds of adaptors, fittings, hoses to make it all work. Damn, at this point you might need to put up more than $4k...

The LSX swap will net you the best driveability and milage but will likely double the cost of the other alternatives.
