Hi Guys,

I am pretty new to this so please bear with me if it gets a little winded. I have a carborated 350 four bolt main from an old 76 suburban that I got at a great deal and has been sitting in my garage for a year. I have a 93 yukon GT which is in fantastic shape body wise but the engine is tired and in my opinion needs to be replaced. (too many issues to list.) My question is can I convert the old '76 350 to a TBI to put in my yukon? I will be rebuilding the old engine and would like some advice if it is worth the effort to do so. Thanks in advance. Any guidance would be helpful.

yep basic bolt on. if you want 100 % then reuse the tbi heads on older block so intake fits with no mods . as the center 2 bolts per head are changed angles from old to newer tbi head stuff.

then use a stock tbi cam for zero chip mods. and also swap the few sensors over and should be no problems.

also note flywheel/flex plates are diffrent as tbi -up engines got 1 peice rear main crank seal and flange at end of crank went smaller. so just watch out for that.

and fyi unless you have all the tools and time or just love to build motors. its cheeper to buy crate or reman block and bolt it in and go these days . and bonus is you get WARRENTY to go with it.

Thanks for the quick reply sweetk30. I am pretty well equipped in the tool department and was planning on this being a winter project since up here in Canada our winters are long and cold and if you are not playing hockey there pretty much isn't much else to do.(LOL) I guess I will look into crate option and also condition of older engine and make my decision then. Thanks again and I will keep you posted.

If your going to rebuild anyway? Why not rebuild the motor in the 93 Yukon? It's 17 years newer...

Rebuilding the yukon engine wouldn't be an option for two reasons. This truck is my daily driver and I can't afford the down time and also where the starter bolts up to the block is broken. Tried tapping it to no avail and starter is held up by plummer's strap.

Still may want to look at a crate engine as some don't want a core cause they use all new parts...

Sweetk30 would know more on using the old engine but I think newer pistons heads and intake are a better choice, then you got accessories and sepentine belts, exhaust manifolds and God forbid you need to go through inspection :doah:
